Finally, after a year of
waiting, Kuroko no Basket returned last October 6th with its second season.
Kuroko no Basket, probably one
of the coolest sport genre animes (well, at least for me), is an anime show
that focuses on basketball that has superb storyline, unique character
concepts, thrill-packed basketball action, and humorous comedy. Its
protagonist, Kuroko Tetsuya, is a high school student who possesses a very
unique ability which could make him “invisible” to the eyes of other people,
most especially to his opponents on the court. This ability is caused by his
lack of presence, which he also able to demonstrate off-court. By teaming up
with a powerhouse, Kagami Taiga, they will face his former teammates, the
Generation of Miracles, who themselves also possess varieties of unique and
amazing skills and abilities.
This anime, unlike “Slam
Dunk”, the all-time favorite basketball anime, has players that have very
unrealistic set of skills and abilities, like a 3-point shooter that could make
a shot anywhere on the court or a player that has a very little presence that
you wouldn’t even sense him even if he is standing beside you. This is really a
mixture of basketball and the elements of anime, though I sometimes have a
disapproval feeling toward this show because of its too much exaggeration of
the players’ abilities. But it did better on its colorful and lively drawings
and graphics, and how the actions of the game have a fast tempo compared to
Slam Dunk.
Well, as a guy who likes to
play basketball, this anime had never failed to pump me up and get my blood
running to throw myself on a court, shoot some hoops, and play some basketball.
