DC Superhero Cafe, located in SM
Megamall, hosted a meet and greet event last August 9. Fans were able to
meet international actors, Osric Chau (Kevin Tran from Supernatural), Dante Basco (Rufio from Hook, Zuko from Avatar
series, Jake Long from American Dragon:
Jake Long), Yoshi Sudarso (Blue Dino Ranger / Koda from Power Ranger Dino Charge, Joe Shih /
Silver Time Force Ranger / Greem Hyper Force Ranger from Power Ranger Hyper Force), and Desmond Chiam (General Riga from The Shannara Chronicles). The meet and
greet started at 6pm.
For a small price of
P160, fans would be able to meet all four actors and would have a DC Cafe drink. And there wasn’t really a
certain time limit so everyone had an enough time to interact with each actors.
When I was at the
line, I was already feeling the excitement and nervousness. I was truly anxious
to meet Dante Basco. I was trying to prepare myself, thinking of things I
should say or do. I was trying to calm myslef because internally I was already
freaking out.
Dante was the first
one fans would be meeting, and no kidding, I experienced my best and most
embarrasing starstruck moment ever. When it was my turn to meet him, when we
were shaking hands, I froze. I froze in front of a fire bender. I didn’t know
what to do. I’d been wanting to meet him for over a decade now ever since I learned
that he voiced Jake Long, and I’m a big fan of the American Dragon: Jake Long cartoon. I didn’t know what to do,
should I sing the American Dragon
theme song, should I shout “Rufio! Rufio!”, or should I introduce myself? These
were the things running in my head all at the same time while I was frozen for
ten seconds. He was asking my name, and then finally I snapped out of it and
answered by introducing myself. We then
jad a chat and I told him that I truly am a fan and it was great to finally
meet him.
Bangarang!
Next, I had a chance
to meet and chat with Desmond Chiam and Yoshi Sudarso. They’re cool guys. Might
start watching The Shannara Chronicles
and Power Rangers Dino Charge.

Then Osric Chau was the fourth one that I met. He was at AsiaPop Comicon last July as a celebrity guest, but I wasn’t able to meet him that time, luckily this meet and greet happened. We had a chance to talk and I told him he has a lot of Filipino fans, specifically those who watches Supernatural. Maybe next time I’ll be able to do an interview with him for his fans.

I also got the chance
to meet and chat with Andrea Walter, the director of Empty by Design, the movie these actors are currently filming here
in the Philippines. A pretty awesome lady.
Hi Direk!
Was really hoping
that Rhian Ramos would pop out and make a surprise appearance since she’s also
part of the movie and one of the main cast. Still this will definitely be one of
the highlights of my 2018.
It was really great
meeting these people. Got really intrigued about their movie, Empty by Design, and I guess I’ll surely
see it on cinema when it will be released.
