EverWing is
a scrolling shooter game released on the Instant Games on Facebook Messenger in November 2016. It was developed and published
by Blackstorm Labs.
Just like any other scrolling shooter game,
the main objective is very simple: hit the enemies and dodge their attacks. Fly
against monsters and bosses by controlling the heroes, the Guardians. Each
Guardian possesses a unique ability, such as doubling the coin value collected
or having an extra life. You can also have dragon sidekicks to assist you on
your flight, and they also have different skills, plus you can increase their
level and make them evolve to become a stronger companion.
Play the single player mode and take an
endless flight to see how long you can survive the game. You can also challenge
your friends to know who the best payer is or cooperate with them to defeat
strong monsters in the Boss Raid mode.
I decided to try this game because of the
name already tells you that it’s a fantasy related game, and I’m into those
kind of games, with the magic, the dragons, and monsters. I rarely play
scrolling shooter game but I’m definitely into this game. The game play is very
simple but it will surely test your reflex and your hand and eye coordination.
The graphics and art designs are fantastic
for Facebook game standards, colorful
and quite friendly that kids would really love. The dragon sidekicks are
designed to be really adorable that players would want to collect them. And the
monsters, as what I expected, they’re neither scary nor intimidating, but it
wouldn’t be hard to identify them as the bad guys.
The Boss Raid mode, the cooperative mode,
which challenges the players to fight strong monsters with towering HPs, is a fun
and simple online bonding with your friends. Mostly it requires a team effort
and multiple tries to defeat a single boss, but players also needs to aim to
deliver the most damage and have the highest score per flight, just to add some
competition.
EverWing has
been one of the first things I do when I have an idle time, and I’m sure that I’ll
keep playing it until maybe I’ve collected most of the dragon sidekicks. It’s
just a entertaining and I do get why it won the “Facebook Game of the Year 2016”
award. I recommend this game if you’re looking for something to kill the time.
