My Top 10 Favorite Video Games

I’ve been playing video games ever since I was a kid, and I’ve played hundreds of them. Today, I will list down ten of my most favorite video games of all time.

Here are my top ten favorite video games of all time:

10) Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening

This sword-swinging, gun-slinging, devil-hunting, guitar-rocking, abs-showing, half-demon, Dante, had earned the game a spot on my top 10 list.

I played this game when I was in 6th grade, and when I saw how cool Dante was, I started to love the game right away. And who doesn’t want to fight and kill demons and god-like creatures in a cool and awesome way.

9) Crash Bandicoot: Warped

Crash Bandicoot: Warped is the third installment in the main series. And the first Crash Bandicoot game that I had ever played.

This game is full of colorful and hilarious actions and adventures as Crash and Coco Bandicoot warps to Medieval Age, Ancient China, Prehistoric Age, Futuristic Era, and many more.

8) Ultimate Spider-man

My favorite superhero of all time, Spider-man.

The video game was based on the Marvel Comic’s Ultimate Spider-man, which features the 15 years old Peter Parker as he live a double life as a regular high school teenager and New York’s web-swinging superhero, Spider-man.

Another reason why this is one of my favorite video games, beside the fact that Spidey is my favorite superhero, is that I could roam around New York by shooting webs and swinging from building to building, plus going face-to-face with Spidey’s arch nemesis such as Green Goblin, Electro, Rhyno, Venom, and many more.

7) Lord of the Rings: The Third Age

Lord of the Rings movies are my favorite movies, so I love playing their video games. But out of all the LotR video games, Lord of the Rings: The Third Age is my favorite.

It retold the story of the trilogy but in the perspective of new characters as their journey intertwine with those of the characters' from the movies such as Aragorn, Gandalf, and many more.

6) Final Fantasy VIII

Final Fantasy VIII focuses on the mercenary, Squall Leonhart, who wields the iconic weapon, the gunblade, as he journeys, together with his friends, to stop the sorceress and her evil scheme which is to compress all of time and become a living god.

The reasons why this is one of my favorites is that it is one of the first Final Fantasy games that I played in the past, plus its story and gameplay is really great. The love story between Squall and Rinoa is also a factor. I also like the character concepts, and the gunblade is a really cool weapon.

5) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

The video game series that causes parents to be convinced that video games cause violence. Well, I had beaten the game but I still have a clean police record, so I don’t think GTA or any other video games really cause crimes and violence.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will let you control a street gangsta, Carl Johnson, as he solves the mystery of the murder of his mother, while cleaning up the whole neighborhood.

I love this game because it's an open-world game and I can roam around cities that were basically, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, and also because all the shooting and the driving are just so exciting that I want to play the game again and again.

4) Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

Back when Resident Evil isn’t just another action video game, and is a horror game where you have to solve dozens of puzzles just to progress with your game, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the third installment in the main story line of the Resident Evil series, took us to a new level of nightmare.

In this game, you will have to control Jill Valentine, a member of the elite police team, S.T.A.R.S. and one of the series main protagonist, as she attempts to make her last escape from the zombie-infested city, Raccoon City, while being chased by the bio-organic weapon, called Project Nemesis, or just simply Nemesis, whose main existence is to hunt her and her team down.

This game is one of the games that bring me back to my childhood. I had beaten this game dozens of times in the past, and I would be happy to finish it again. And unlike how linear the present Resident Evil games are today, this including the other first few RE games, which will make you go back to places you’d been before, solve tons of puzzles and riddles, and make you search for items and keys all throughout the game. And RE3 is where we will see the climactic end of the infamous Raccoon City.

3) Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

Assassin’s Creed games are famous for their free-running, assassinations, and their historical references. But among all the Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is my favorite.

The reason why this is my favorite AC game, is first because of its protagonist, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. For me, he was the coolest assassin that I have seen, not just because of his skills and knowledge, but also with how he was with the ladies. He was like the Renaissance Batman. Plus he is the reason why many gamers know how to say the Italian phrase, “Requiescat in Pace”, which means “Rest in Peace” in English.

Another reason is that it was based on Rome, Italy. Rome is one of the cities that I really want to visit. And famous historical people are included in the game, such as Rodrigo Borgia, Cesare Borgia, Lucreza Borgia, Noccolo Machiavelli, and Leonardo da Vinci.

And lastly, it was the first Assassin’s Creed game that I played, and the reason why I became a fan of the series.

2) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Vampires, werewolves, zombies, Dracula. These are the things that I love, and Castlevania put them in a game.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night focuses on the half-vampire, half-human son of Count Dracula, Alucard, as he returns to Dracula’s castle and fights evil and dark forces to stop his father from spreading evil throughout the land.

As opposed to most Castlvania games, where a Belmonts are usually the main protagonist, and the Vampire Killer Whip is the primary weapon, Alucard could use variation of weapons, such as swords, daggers, clubs, and even his fists, as his primary weapon. Plus he could also wield shields. And another thing, Alucard could also transform into a bat, a werewolf, and a mist, just like how his father does.

1) Final Fantasy IX

My most favorite game, Final Fantasy IX.

Reasons why I love Final Fantasy IX?

FF9 also has a great story line, and character concepts. It also has fun mini games and side quests. Plus its music is really beautiful, that every time I hear songs from FF9, all I would want is to play the game again. And it reminds me of my childhood, for I played and finished the game for the first time when I was just a kid, back when I was in 3rd grade. That is how nostalgic this game is for me.

So there! My top ten favorite video games. What are your top ten favorite video games?
