Thanos will arrive soon to collect the Infinity Stones and we’ll get to see our favorite superheroes make the biggest team-up in the cinematic history ever. And every Marvel fan is just excited for the movie to come out.
Last April 15, an Avengers: Infinity War fan event was held at SM Megamall Cinema 7, and I was really fortunate to get an invite to this gathering. Thanks to GMovies for the free event pass.
When I got there, I wasn’t really sure what
was about to happen on that event, but I was certain that it’s still too early
for a movie screening, but I know they would be giving away free Avengers: Infinity War tickets. I was
hoping to win a free movie ticket, but unfortunately, I didn’t get any.
They did tell us that we would be recording a
short video screaming, “We’re ready for you, Avengers!” so we must prepare our
best and most energetic shout. I was thinking to myself that okay it would be
really cool.
A lot of cosplayers attended the event and
they were keen in showing their costumes. Their costumes and props were very
impressive and some of them were also talented artists for they were the ones
who crafted what they were wearing and did their hair and makeup. And I just
love it when cosplayers are dedicated to their characters’ personality and
movements, like how that one kid cosplaying as Baby Groot, and whatever the
host asked him, he would only utter the line, “I am Groot”. I also enjoyed that
Rocket Raccoon puppet, where we had to see a ventriloquist performance, plus
the attitude and the way he made the puppet speak matched how Rocket Raccon
would have talked just like in the films. But one of the most astonishing
cosplays was the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. A guy was wearing a huge Thanos
costume and what was great was he made it himself. These cosplayers really entertained
the people and really help in making a lively event.
Prices were won during raffle contests given
away by sponsors, which include collectible toy figures, shirts, movie tickets,
etc. I did win a shirt, but somehow it went missing when I left it on the
cinema seat for a while because I was taking pictures with the cosplayers. But
it’s all cool.
The host told us that we were about to start
recording our fan video and we would do test runs first before the actual one.
We made a few tries, screaming from the top of our lungs. We were heavily
calling out for the Avengers, and then all of a sudden, the screen changed and
what appeared on it truly surprised us. Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Stephen

Infinity War director Joe Russo were live on screen. We couldn’t believe
our very eyes because we thought we’ll just do a video recording. Everyone was
cheering, everyone was freaking out. I was thinking “Wait! Are they going to
play a video message from these actors?” but no that was way better. That was a
live video chat. They could hear us, our screams, our cheers, the clap of our
hands. They could see us. They could see us flailing our arms, waving at them,
moving in enjoyment. I didn’t know what to do. I was seriously freaking out. I
wasn’t sure if I should shout their names, record it on my phone, take picture,
or do a selfie with them. That was an amazing and blissful experience.

After that, I was still feeling astounded by
that experience. Still smiling from ear to ear. But after I cool down a bit, I
ask for some photos with those awesome cosplayers.

I was really excited about the movie before
this, but now that feeling multiplied, it doubled up, maybe even triple. Just
can’t wait to see them all together on the big screen.
