Defend/Conquer Middle-Earth

Back in high school, there was a video game that I really loved playing after class. I used to play it with and against my classmates. Rushing to the computer shop near the school and often staying there for two to three hours. That game is The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II.

The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II is a real-time strategy video game developed and published by EA Games and distributed by New Line Cinema, the same company that distributed the film trilogy. It was released on March 2, 2006 for the Windows version and July 5, 2006 for the Xbox 360 version.

Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King are my favorite movies of all time. I have seen the trilogy a dozen of times already, and that’s one of the reasons why I really like that game. Plus I get to control characters such as Legolas, Gandalf, Aragorn, The Witch-King, and Sauron, and I get to command armies of Men, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Uruk-hais and Goblins. In addition, I can also create different heroes from the different races, which is really cool.

One of my created heroes, Whynona

Playing in a computer shop wasn’t enough for me, since I also wanted to finish the campaign mode, but I only had limited time there and I have to play on a specific desktop to load my save files. I knew that I had to install it on our PC so I tried to look where I can find a CD installer. I asked my classmates if they own one but unfortunately, they didn’t. I didn’t buy one because I didn’t have enough money that time. Then I just stopped looking for it.

About four years ago, I stumbled upon a game store and found a CD installer for this game, and then I remembered how much I used to crave for this game, so I bought it. But for some reason (me being an idiot and not knowing how to successfully install this game so I just left it in the dark for years), it was just three days ago that I had finally installed the game and was able to play it again for so many years.

I immediately launched the game and played for hours even though I was already sacrificing my sleep. For a couple of days, I spent hours and slept really late for this game, but now I’m trying to fix my sleeping schedule because that wasn’t really healthy.

Anyway, going back to the game, I still am enjoying playing this game. I missed this so much. Even though this was released in 2006, I can still appreciate the graphics. I created heroes, played a skirmish game as a warm up, then started with the evil mode campaign. I’m just really happy that after all those years, I am now able to play this game again.

I don’t play DOTA or League of Legends, but if you would invite me to play this game with you, I’m down. Let’s play!
