An Oath to Fall

Hearing your name in the dark alley,
You’ll shiver in fear but smile proudly,
What’s going on? The smell of oblivion,
Wait until epiphany strikes you like a hot iron.

Father time would be the one most disappointed
Even after seeing your name in an article we’ve just read,
Big news, big as it can ever be,
Disappointment is what we’ll only see.

Suit up, dress up, sell yourself out,
Make light puke out from your mouth,
Join them shouting, “Oh great! Oh glory!”
But do sins like doses of drugs daily.

Write down your story and go publish,
And hope that you’ll be their first wish,
Like how you said life is ironic,
With its ups and downs until you feel sick.

Food, gas, apartment rent,
Please, tell me where your childhood went,
Reminiscing until the end of days,
‘Cause you’re too slow, you’ll lose the race.

Hallow as your soul, but as thick as your blood,
Right or wrong, you’ll never get back what you had,
You’ve lost it, right when you blinked your eye,
But never actually bothered asking how or why.

Look closely into the mirror,
It feels suspicious plus a bit of horror,
Blame the world, point your finger forward,
In the end, it’s just you, hiding like a coward.

“Come back!” your cries in your dreams,
But reality is harsher than it seems,
Sleep forever my lonely child,
Don’t look back, because no one smiled.
